Tough loss for Man City today in the Manchester derby. They didn't play that well, but still had a chance to salvage a draw after a somewhat lucky equalizing goal off of David Silva's back.
Two things I don't understand about this game is why Man City didn't start Edin Dzeko and why Man United didn't start Berbatov.
The Dzeko question is more of a second guessing affair on my part, as Man City seemed to be better on the attack after he came in the game. Early on, it was difficult for Tevez to do anything on his own, and he never really had any good moments in the game at all. Why not start Dzeko and put more pressure on the Man United back line to start the game?
For Berbatov, apparently he didn't start because Alex Ferguson likes to start more midfielders against better teams, which I didn't know until today. But, if the person you are sending to the bench is the leading goal scorer in the Premier League, does this theory still make sense? It seems like you would want to start Berbatov and try to establish an early lead and then switch to more midfielders after you get a lead.
In any case, this loss probably takes Man City out of the running to win the Premier League. Hopefully they can still maintain enough focus to keep a spot in the top 4 teams.
